Ancient Thera
Located on Mesa Vouno above Kamari, Ancient Thera is the historical city of Santorini.
Founded in the 9th century BC by the Dorians, it stands at an altitude of 385 meters in a naturally fortified position and shows evidence of continuous habitation through the Byzantine period.
Museum of Prehistoric Thera
In Fira, you will visit the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, which can be considered an extension of the Akrotiri site.
The museum houses remarkable wall paintings, artifacts, and findings from the peak period of the ancient city (17th century BC), as well as exhibits from the Neolithic era discovered across the island.
